General Information
Most of the photographs on this site are available as custom fine art prints
for display on your most favorite walls. They are custom made on a per order
basis, and are done with the utmost care. The images are almost always reworked on before
it goes to the lab to ensure that the latest editing technologies are applied
to it. I have both 35mm format( rectangular, with a 2:3 ratio) and medium
format(square, 6cm by 6cm) sizes. This 2 formats will satisfy a majority of
interior design needs. A square format is a welcome shape in many walls, and
is a surprisingly wonderful harmonizer, being neutral in its direction. For prints larger than 16 x 20 and intended to
be viewed at a close distance, the larger square format is recommended. The prints comes either in glossy finish or matte finish.
A glossy finish appears more contrasty, because blacks appear blacker, which also makes the image appears sharper. However, some
people do not like the reflectiveness of a glossy surface. In this case, a matte surface is more comforrable. Below
are further notes on the prints:
- Quality:
- All prints are laserwrited(with state of the art Cymbolics Lightjet printers)onto photographic
papers (the latest Professional Kodak Endura Paper, a museum-grade paper which exhibits superior
sharpness and subtle color), and processed through photographic chemicals. Lightjet prints are vastly superior to
the standard prints in a professional lab, hence the much higher cost. The difference between a Lightjet print and a
standard print(usually done on Fuji Frontier printers, AGFA d-lab series printers, or Kodak Noritsu printers) is that a
Lightjet print yields a wider gamut(range of colors), with colors appearing much denser and richer, and because its lasers, and the overall machine,
are much more precise, the image is as sharp as it can be(the standard print would be fuzzy in comparison). Once you place
the standard and Lightjet prints side by side, the difference is immediately apparent.
- Border:
- The image will have a white border around it(from 1/2 to 1 inch depending
on size) so that the final image size is slightly smaller than listed above.
- Framing
- Currently I do not offer framing. The reason is that framing offers many
options (such as color, shape, texture of the material, as well as the many
variations and methods of matting) that requires physical attention. This
is best done locally. In addition to all these. framing will delay the delivery
of the print significantly.
- Inscriptions
- I will sign and date the prints(with a pencil) on the lower right-hand corner, or anywhere you like.
For those who wish to have the prints unsigned, you must indicate so on the check or email me in advance. If you have any special requests
please email me in advance as well.
-
- Copyrights:
- The prints are for display only. You may not reproduce it. For that right
you need to license the images.
- Payment
- You may pay either with credit card (through Paypal), checks, or mondey
orders. Shipping will proceed once the payment is deposited. Personal checks
takes about 10 days to clear.
- Guaranties
- Many variables affect the appearance of the image on the website, including
the difference in monitors, calibration methods, and operation systems. Most importantly is the unchangable
difference between an illuminated image on a monitor and a reflective physical print. Extra fine-tunning and adjustment
of the digital file is necessary to ensure high quality in the final printed image. Web images also
have their own adjustments for proper viewing, therefore, there may be color and lightness variations
between the image on your monitor and the actual print. But I am very positive
that you will enjoy the work, and will offer a full refund(excluding your
delivery costs} for any prints return in its new condition(with the same packaging materials) within 30 days
of receiving it. In the event that prints are damaged in transit, you need
to notify me within 3 days of receiving it, and I will replace it with another one.
- Turnaround Time
- Unless I am away travelling delivery will take about 2-3 weeks. It may
take longer if I feel that the photo needs to be drum-scanned for the larger
prints.
- Delivery
- For prints under 16" x 20" they will be sandwiched between two quarter-inch foam boards with an acid-free paper
covering the image; and delivered flat. Sizes beyond that will be rolled up(image out and also with an acid-free pager
covering the image to prevent damage) and placed in a tube, which goes in another box. Prints will be shipped via FedEx within the continental US, and airmail
worldwide.
